Bradner Gardens Community Building

Seattle, Washington

For the design of this community building, we explored an environmentally-regenerative architecture that goes beyond breaking even, and “gives back.” The net energy-producing building has a butterfly roof shaped to collect rainwater and solar energy, and features an 8.8kW photovoltaic array that is integrated with the roof with inexpensive and functional detailing. The building supports the active, local pea-patch community by providing a meeting and horticultural resource room, public restrooms, kitchen, and garden tool storage.
