Aurora Mixed-Use

Seattle, Washington

This project — the June on South Lake — responds to the unique aspects of a steeply sloping site on Queen Anne Hill. One side of the site fronts a busy arterial street and the other side offers views of the mountains, city, and Lake Union.   The building forms a closed-shell and screens itself from the arterial side, with smaller apartment units, while larger apartments open dramatically to the eastern views. Loft units mediate the grade difference by stepping down the hill and creating double-height volumes for living and working. Parking for 32 vehicles is located off the alley and there is a common roof deck with a BBQ for residents, and a space for their dogs.
