Capitol Hill House

Seattle, Washington

The existing house was the ugly duckling of a beautiful block of old homes; the house had suffered from a few unfortunate renovations in the ‘50s. Removing the bloated additions from the 1950s to restore the original figure was the first step to breathe new life into the house. In the back, we expanded the house to create a generous interior where the family of five could live more comfortably and more socially, with ample daylight and a seamless connection to their backyard.

“I find it really peaceful to be here, even when the house is full of our kids and their friends. It really offsets some of the chaos.”
