The Downtown School
A Lakeside School

PUBLIC47 had the opportunity to collaborate with Lakeside School in updating a historic school building to serve as a dynamic space for learning: The Downtown School – A Lakeside School. This independent, co-educational high school – located west of Seattle Center – is 16,000-sf with seven large, light-filled classrooms, including two dedicated science classrooms: a biology/chemistry lab and physics/engineering classroom.
The ground-level Commons serves as the heart of the school: It’s a large, flexible co-working space where teachers and students can collaborate and the whole community can gather.
The project was completed in early 2018 and the first classes will begin in fall of 2018.
