JFS Office Building

Seattle, Washington
Project Lead: Kevin Tabari

In order to expand their services, Jewish Family Service of Seattle elected to develop the vacant parking lot that occupied the north half of their Capitol Hill site. The design team was tasked with creating a building that bridged the style and scale gap between JFS’s existing low-slung 1950’s modern office building and the 1930’s brick apartment blocks to the north. The new 3-story building is organized around a central courtyard that affords ample daylight to each of the closed-walled offices, and provides a central outdoor space that fosters the sense of community. The project is LEED™ Silver Certified.

It is full of light with a wonderful sense of openness and spaciousness, in an understated way. Our staff, our board and our clients love this building… Kevin Tabari more than came through for us! His attention to detail is phenomenal; and, simultaneously his good humor and willingness to hear our concerns, all resulted in a building that serves us extremely well, but will also stand the test of time. Grateful is simply an understatement.”
