Alpine Mixed-Use Projects

Ski Town, USA

PUBLIC47 designed two ski-in, ski-out multi-family buildings at the base of a ski resort that will provide modern alpine living including amenities such as ski and bike locker rooms, spas and exterior hot pools.

The projects are designed to utilize a hybrid system of construction of steel frame with cross-laminated timber (CLT) floor and roof system. The construction type allows much of the structural components to be fabricated off-site during the winter months, and quickly erected on site during a very abbreviated building season. The pitched roof forms shed the snow away from the window and decks, while also affording loft units at the peak of the forms.
